THE MISS HOPE SLOUGH CONTEST!! |
|
The Miss Hope Slough Contest was a major fund raiser of the Club for many years. It was held in Evergreen Hall and was very popular with the masses. Lions clubs in that era were men’s clubs and various lions from clubs around the lower mainland would dress in evening gowns and swim suits and compete for the Title of Miss Hope Slough. Funds raised went into the community to help others. The winner was seated on “her” throne an old porcelain toilet and dances were auctioned off for the first dance with the new “queen”. See if you can recognize anyone from the photos below.
