LISTEN FOR THE KNOCK AND SUPPORT THE FOOD  BANK

In 1990 Lion Gordon HUTTON started the Mount Cheam Lions Walk and Knock modeled after a program that he had started in the Guilford Lions Club.  Since that time the Walk and Knock has become larger each year and now involves over 30 groups including service clubs; Lions, Rotary, Kiwanis, Elks, Knights of Columbus, Soroptimist and Optimist.  School groups, Church groups, Scouts and Guides have walked the streets from Greendale to East Chilliwack collecting non-perishable food for this most worthwhile project.

This one night blitz, usually on the last Wednesday in May, involves over 600 men, women and children who collectively round up over 17,000 food items.  This event helps the Salvation Army feed the many unfortunate people through the summer months.  According to Pastor Tim BOHR the need is growing every year.

This years date is noted above.  Each canvasser will be identified by wearing a yellow, walk and knock badge.  If you live in an apartment, condo or gated community and wish to contribute please call Jim at 604-824-1431 or Ted at 604-824-1182 and we will gladly come and pick up your donation. Thank you to Lions Jim CUMYN and Ted MUNN who have taken over the organization of the Walk and Knock from Lion Gordon HUTTON.  It takes a lot of hard work each year to organize this event.

Please give give generously when the walker knocks on your door.  The Mount Cheam Lions Club thanks all of the donors over the years and all those good citizens who go out and knock on doors in order to help the less fortunate.  Working together we can make a difference in our community.  Thank You!!!
